The world needs renewable energy. It must be produced in an environmentally friendly way.

Offshore wind turbines are a growing source of renewable energy. In order to operate the ever-increasing number of off-shore wind farms, there is a great need for ships that can transport technicians to and from the various wind turbines.

Most ships that are used to operate wind farms today were originally built for other purposes. Others are new single-hull vessels. These ships are often unsuitably large and can cause movements which lead to reduced operations at the turbines. In addition, they can cause seasickness and are not very energy efficient.

At GC Rieber, we believe that renewable energy should be produced as environmentally friendly as possible, with ships specialized for this purpose. Our contribution to this process is Windkeeper. Our contribution to this process is Windkeeper.

The Windkeeper ships are designed to revolutionize the operation of offshore wind farms. The ships are built as SWATH hulls. These are two-hulled vessels with a small waterline area, which means that the ships have very little movement. This is a functionality that is ready to be utilized as soon as the wind parks makes the necessary arrangements. In addition, the ships' modest size (57m) leads to major environmental savings through reduced energy consumption in operation and during construction.

And finally - the Windkeeper ships can also be built for 100% electric operation in the field. This is a functionality that is ready to be utilized as soon as the wind parks makes the necessary arrangements.
